Delivering Action Summit

The first annual Delivering Action Summit was held on July 12, 2019 at the Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort in Florida.

Attendees gather at the Delivering Action Summit, Sandestin, July 2019.
Sandestin, Florida — July 12, 2019.

The Summit brought together doctors, midwives, medical-malpractice attorneys, journalists, bloggers, parents who have lost their children under the supervision of an out-of-hospital midwife, and the extraordinary communities that support them — in order to inspire effective discourse on the preventable deaths of children and their parents under the care of an out-of-hospital midwife.

The Summit also served to promote the transparency in the midwifery industry that will help to provide families with the knowledge necessary to make truly informed decisions.

What came out of it

  • Direct conversations between bereaved parents and the journalists who uncovered the stories that led to legislative pressure.
  • The framework for what became the Florida legislation we now track here.
  • Renewed momentum for a full-length documentary, which the Foundation continues to raise toward.
