About
About the Foundation
Franklin's Tree House Foundation, Inc. is a pending 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that promotes the health, safety and literacy of all mothers and their children by educating the public on the risks of certain out-of-hospital births, creating transparency in the midwifery industry, and by instilling confidence and leadership skills in children through the ‘Confident Kids!’ program.
We are a small, family-led organization that began with a loss. The Foundation was formed by Athena Pearl Riley and Franklin Riley in memory of their son, Franklin Naat’áanii Riley, and is joined on the board by Heather M. LeBlanc. We work where journalism, law, and advocacy meet — providing families with information they deserve to have and bringing mentorship to children in our community.
What we do
- Educate families about the questions every mother should be able to ask before choosing where to give birth.
- Advocate for transparency in the midwifery industry — gathering public-record information that should already be public.
- Run the Confident Kids! program, bringing monthly mentorship and joy to children ages 8–12.
